:Program Message of Family and Childhood Institutions Management
The Family and Childhood Institutions Management Program seeks to achieve ambitious future visions based on investing in human capital by preparing scientifically and professionally specialized graduates who possess innovative capabilities and administrative competencies that enable them to keep pace with technological developments and ongoing learning, thus achieving effective community partnerships and keeping pace with modern trends in digital transformation and sustainable development.
Program general objectives
Study program objectives of the Department of Family and Childhood Institutions Management
The key objective of the program is to prepare a graduate who is scientifically and technically qualified in their field of specialization (Family and Childhood Institutions Management) and is capable of:
1. Acquiring the foundations and principles of management and their applications in family and childhood institutions.
2. Activating family and institutional resource management strategies.
3. Employing the principles of business simplification in managing time and effort.
4. Employing the scientific research approach in managing family and childhood institutions, as well as using modern technology to meet community needs and develop the environment.
5. Developing skills in planning and designing guidance programs, technical consultations, and educational programs in family and childhood institutions and the media, while complying with the cultural norms, values, and professional ethics of society.
6. Encouraging participation in preparing feasibility studies and developing small projects to develop self-resources and serve the community at large.
7. Raising awareness of the importance of consumer protection organizations and associations, and preparing guidance programs related to family economics and consumer guidance.
8. Developing skills in introducing standard specifications for household and institutional appliances and equipment, and applying the principles of selection, use, and care.
9- Developing applied skills in the field of flower arrangement, design, furnishing, and decoration for homes, family and childhood institutions, and textile and upholstery care.
10- Introducing scientific terminology related to the field of specialization.
11- Integrating humanities, basic sciences, and technology and their applications within the field of specialization to meet labor market requirements.
12- Developing scientific research and continuing education skills in the fields of specialization while complying with cultural values and professional ethics.
Specifications of the graduate of the Department of Family and Childhood Institutions Management:
Graduates of the Family and Childhood Institutions Management Program should be able to:
- Apply the foundations and principles of management at the family and institutional levels to address crises and solve problems.
- Provide technical consultations on household and institutional appliances, including methods for selection, use, maintenance, and care.
- Understand the quality requirements for household and institutional appliances.
- Select appropriate materials for equipping and furnishing homes and institutions, including furniture, lighting, appliances, flooring, walls, and interior design accessories, in accordance with quality specifications.
- Develop standard specifications for goods and services to protect consumers, rationalize consumption and spending, and develop innovative alternatives.

The Department of Family and Childhood Institution Management qualifies graduates to work in the following fields:
- Various social institutions as a family and childhood institution management specialist.
- Family counseling and guidance centers and family courts as a relations and counseling specialist.
- Consumer protection associations and institutions and civil society organizations as a family economics and consumer guidance consultant.
- Media outlets as a family media educator and program preparer.
- Household equipment and appliances factories, institutions, as well as furniture and decoration factories as a quality management specialist in furnishing and furnishing.
- Training centers specializing in small industries, human resource development, and project management as a technical administrator.
- General and university education levels as a teacher in the field of specialization.

- Participation in National Initiatives: The department, through some of its members, has contributed to the implementation of "Mawadda project”, affiliated with the Presidency of the Republic, to educate young people about marriage, reflecting its active role in serving the community and raising family awareness.
- Link to Sustainable Development Goals: The program integrates with the sustainable development goals, particularly in the areas of women's empowerment, childhood care, mental and social health, and quality education.
- Specialized Advisory Center: The department oversees a family counseling center that provides community counseling services and serves as an advanced field training platform for students in the field of family assessment and intervention.
- Promoting Community Entrepreneurship: One of the department's members serves as the faculty's representative in the university's Startup Clinic, providing a range of activities and services that support entrepreneurship. The program also encourages students to establish innovative community projects in the fields of childhood and family care, in line with the requirements of economic and social development.
- National and Community Representation in Decision-Making Institutions: One of the program's faculty members is an active member of national and community platforms, such as the Coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians and the Assistant Secretary of Women's Secretariats Union in the Egyptian Parties Alliance. This enhances the program's role in linking academic specialization with community issues, empowering women, and developing educational and social policies.
- Excellence in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and International Presence: The program includes distinguished academic cadres who have contributed to training young entrepreneurs within business incubators, reflecting an effective integration of academic knowledge with industrial and societal applications.

Head of the Department of Family and Childhood Institutions Management
I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Family and Childhood Institution Management at the Faculty of Home Economics, Helwan University. The Department of Family and Childhood Institution Management is one of the distinguished departments at the Faculty of Home Economics. It is considered the first department in this specialization at the national and regional levels. It is also considered a pioneer department in attracting expatriates from Arab countries at the graduate level. The department also boasts a group of pioneers in the field of family and childhood institution management, who are credited with establishing similar departments in Egypt and Arab countries. By utilizing such advantages, the department seeks to prepare graduates who are academically and professionally qualified in the fields of family and childhood institution management, capable of conducting scientific research, keeping pace with technological developments, continuing education, participating in community service and environmental development, and competing in the local and regional labor market to meet the requirements of the labor market and the needs of society.

Enrollment Requirements

Registration requirements:
Undergraduate Program admission requirements:
For the benefit of the students, admission to the Department of Family and Childhood Institutions Management is possible without any requirements or restrictions
Diploma Program Admission Requirements:
- The student must hold a bachelor's degree in Home Economics, specialization branch, from a Home Economics college or any other equivalent academic degree. • The student must submit the documents approved by the University Council after consulting the College Council.
Master’s Program Admission Requirements:
1. Student must have a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics, specialization branch, from a Home Economics college, or any other equivalent degree with a minimum overall grade of "Good" in the specialization branch, as well as a minimum grade of "Good" in the specialization subjects specified by the Department Council and the College Council, or must have obtained a specialized postgraduate diploma from the College of Home Economics with a minimum overall grade of "Good."
2. Student must not have passed the period, since obtaining their first university degree, specified by the University Council after consulting the College Council.
3. For international students, the University Council, after consulting the College Council and based on the opinions of the relevant academic department councils, determines their admission requirements.
4. Student must have completed the required documents specified by the University Council after consulting the College Council.
Cancellation of Registration:
A student's registration for a master's degree will be cancelled if they do not submit a master's thesis within three years from the date of registration. In this case, the student may be awarded a general diploma in the specialization if they successfully complete all the courses required for the master's degree, provided that they achieve a cumulative GPA average of C+ in all requirements.
PhD Program Admission Requirements:
1. Student must have a master's degree awarded by a college of home economics or its equivalent.
2. Student must have the required documents approved by the University Council after consulting the College Council.
Cancellation of Registration:
A student's registration for a doctoral degree will be cancelled if the student does not submit a doctoral dissertation within three years from the date of registration.
