The emergence of unity

The establishment of the unit has been officially approved and documented, and its location has been designated (first floor – Library and Leather Industries Building). It has been equipped with furniture, computers, scanners, and a photocopier. The administrative board has been formed and documented by the Faculty Council Decision No. (384) dated 24/3/2010.

Implementing an evaluation system that contributes to the formation of a distinguished educational output capable of competing locally and regionally.

Unit mission

The Measurement and Evaluation Unit seeks to achieve the following:

- Provide faculty members and their assistants with effective assessment skills through specialized training programs.

- Prepare comprehensive assessment programs for components of the educational and research processes, contributing to achieving quality performance standards.

- Train faculty members to prepare question banks for the college's courses.

- Develop examination systems by establishing governing standards for the examination paper that align with the college's characteristics and take into account the college's general examination system.

The Unit’s Objectives Are Summarized as Follows:

  1. Developing the vision and mission of the Student Assessment and Evaluation Unit.
  2. Setting plans, policies, and objectives for assessment and evaluation at the faculty level.
  3. Establishing an examinations evaluation unit to manage, monitor, and provide technical support for various assessment processes.
  4. Automating student assessment and examination systems related to question formulation and correction.
  5. Preparing a specialized manual that outlines the standards and specifications for assessments and examinations.
  6. Developing and furnishing question banks in accordance with the goals and standards set for each academic program.

Based on the Unit’s Objectives, the Roles and Responsibilities Are Summarized as Follows:

  1. Defining and developing assessment and evaluation standards and metrics for the institution.
  2. Promoting the culture of assessment and evaluation through training courses, workshops, lectures, and seminars.
  3. Assisting academic departments in the institution to conduct assessments correctly.
  4. Diversifying assessment methods and adopting modern approaches in performance measurement and evaluation.
  5. Monitoring the results of assessment activities across academic departments within the institution.
  6. Designing surveys and tools for data collection related to assessment and evaluation.
  7. Preparing assessment results reports for academic departments for continuous improvement.
  8. Periodically publishing the institution’s performance evaluation results.
  9. Coordinating with academic departments to ensure that course and program curricula align with the evaluation methods used and meet labor market demands.
  10. Monitoring faculty members’ performance evaluations.
  11. Conducting scientific studies to develop assessment and evaluation systems.
  12. Cooperating with universities, faculties, centers, and professional bodies on issues related to assessment and evaluation.
  13. Following up on studies measuring beneficiaries’ satisfaction with the evaluation methods used.

The Dean of the Faculty serves as the Chairman of the Unit’s Board.

Tasks of the Various Departments:

Training Department:

  1. Identifying training needs at the faculty level.
  2. Implementing various training programs in coordination with the central unit.
  3. Promoting the culture of assessment and evaluation within the faculty.
  4. Conducting workshops for students and administrative staff on the ethics of assessment and examinations.

Assessment Department:

  1. Issuing regular statistics and reports on the state of assessment and evaluation at the faculty.
  2. Preparing periodic reports on complaints and appeals submitted by students, especially those related to assessment and evaluation.
  3. Ensuring that assessment and evaluation activities are conducted according to scientific standards and regulatory bylaws.

Question Bank Department:

The function of this committee is to coordinate the development of question banks for selected courses, ensure quality control in the creation process, and collaborate with the relevant administrative unit in the central office to implement this task.

As part of its institutional role and responsibilities, the unit has promoted awareness of different evaluation methods through the publication of guides and the organization of specialized workshops and training courses in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Center and the University’s Assessment and Evaluation Center (Question Bank System). The unit has also evaluated exam papers and prepared reports on the results for each program. The evaluation results were discussed in department meetings and shared with faculty members to benefit from the feedback and avoid previously identified weaknesses in the future.
